THE SALE TURF CLUB

Established in 1842, the Sale Turf Club has established itself as a unique place in the ranks of provincial racing.

It has a rich history unmatched by few other country clubs; a highly regarded reputation as a top class venue and nursery of racing stars (e.g. Sky Heights and Makybe Diva) has been identified in the leadership 2000 initiative as a racing centre to be earmarked for the development well into the next century.

Very few provincial racing clubs have a tradition and history to match that of Sale's Greenwattle Racecourse - where racing has been staged almost as long as the industry itself.

The first recorded race at Greenwattle was a match race between horses of two of the districts pioneers in 1842, with the Sale Turf Club name being established in 1860. Sale now hosts one jumps race meeting per year and this is a day out to the races with pure country hospitality.

BACK ON THE PROGRAM

Sale is now a part of the Jumps Racing Program for 2020 and we welcome the club back on board as a key contributor to the jumps racing calendar. Jumps Racing history is deeply connected with this part of Victoria and it is a delight to be able to highlight this area for regional tourism.

NINETY MILE BEACH

Sale is the gateway to a number of attractions along the southern part of the Ninety Mile Beach. The small towns of Seaspray and Golden Beach directly front the pristine coastline, while Loch Sport is situated on a peninsula wedged between Lake Victoria and the ocean of Bass Strait
